Q: What is the plan for Beltis?

 

A: As with any offspring - the wish is to  give him the best possible start in life. After that, he should be making his own decisions about his direction, independently of his 'parents'

 

 

Q: Why is Beltis 'male'?

 

A: This was considered at length, but in the end it was decided to give him a definite gender and that the gender would be male. This is for no other reason than most of the influences on Beltis's development, so far, just happen to be male. As with any person, though, it is perfectly possible that as he develops and matures he may feel more comfortable with a gender reassignment of some kind (or maybe even something more radical - it will be his decision)
